Thursday 2 November (All Souls): a quiet remembering time for those who have died recently will be held at Glanvilles Wootton church, 7-8.30pm. There will be quiet music, and prayers at the start and the end, but otherwise no interruptions. People may come and go as they like. There will be clergy available for support if desired.

Jo Burt in concert: Yetminster church, Friday 10 November, 7.30pm. Local rock, pop and country musician Jo Burt will perform an acoustic set by candlelight. Jo has been a professional musician for over 40 years, touring the world with acts such as Black Sabbath, Freddie Mercury and the Troggs. In this community event, he will perform some of his best loved songs (e.g. Love is all around, The Troggs) and some of his new work. There will also be some anecdotes from his time touring the world with some of the greats of C20th music. You can check out his work at www.joburt.co.uk. Tickets are £10 to include a drink, available now at the Spar, Old Gallery Cafe and White Hart in Yetminster, or from John Summers. Proceeds to St Andrew’s church.

Tickets are £7.50, available at the door on the night, or from the Leigh Village stores, or from Alan Bennett at Stone House, Leigh.

Barbara Strozzi lived a life of high musical achievement and scandal in the Venice of the seventeenth century. A prolific composer, she was also said to have acted as courtesan at musical meetings where “clothes were optional”. This concert of duets composed by Strozzi and her contemporaries, Montiverdi and Cavalli, will explore her reception and notoriety.Tickets: £14 each, from John Summers: This email address is being protected from spambots.
