Thursday 6 December, 6pm: Village Christmas Carols at Bishops Caundle. Meet to sing on church green from 6pm, followed by mince pies and mulled wine at the White Hart.

Bach to Bing Crosby: Saturday 15 December, 7pm at St Andrew’s Church Yetminster. Featuring Christmas music from Covent Garden soloists with a local twist. Mince pies and mulled wine. Tickets £10 (children free) from the SPAR, Gallery café and pub. In aid of the restoration fund.

1914-1918 And All That: A remembrance event to commemorate the end of World War I, Friday 9 November, 7.30pm, Leigh Village Hall. Lt Gen. Andrew Graham will speak. Wine and light refreshments available from 7pm. Tickets: £7.50, available from Leigh Village Stores or on the night. Proceeds to local churches and the Royal British Legion.

World’s Biggest Afternoon Tea Party

Friday 28 September at Glanvilles Wootton Village Hall, 3 – 5pm. Tea, sandwiches, cake, scones with jam and cream, and even Prosecco. To donate a cake or raffle prize or to offer any other help, please call Louise (01963 210 938) or Caroline (01963 210 479).

Proceeds to Macmillan Cancer Support.

A Miscellany of Words and Music: Friday 28 September, St Peter’s Church Chetnole, from 7.30pm. A collection of songs, poems, music and stories performed by talented locals, with beer (from the Wriggle Valley Brewery) and sandwiches freely available (plus wine and soft drinks). No tickets: entry and drinks by donation. In aid of church funds.

Yetminster Harvest Festival: Sunday 30 September, 11am: service in church followed by Ploughman’s Lunch and puddings in the Jubilee Hall

Men’s Breakfast at Folke Golf Club: Saturday 6 October, from 8am. Cost: £7, to finish by 9.45am. The speaker this month is Matthew Lucas, a funeral director based in Dorchester. Please book by calling Keith Budgell: 01963 23428.

St Andrew’s Church, Leigh: Just Breakfast on Sunday 7 October, 9 – 11am in church. Further details from Eddie Upton or Anne Reason.

Benefice Concert: Sherborne Abbey, Saturday 13 October, 7pm. The National Symphony Orchestra and the Locrian Singers, conducted by Anthony Inglis, perform Mozart’s Coronation Mass. Tickets from Sherborne TIC. In aid of the Three Valleys Benefice.
