Songs of Albion: The Music of Lost Spirits and Places, Friday 12 July, 7.30pm, St Andrew’s Church, Yetminster. A concert of music from the harp and voice, by two local artists, Katherine Hawnt and Kirsty Whatley. Including Purcell, Britten, Vaughan-Williams and Warlock. Tickets £12 (£10 conc.), available on the door. Wine during the interval. Proceeds to Yetminster School PTFA and the St Andrew’s Restoration Fund.

Community Breakfast, Glanvilles Wootton Village Hall (DT9 5QF). Saturday 13 July, 9-11am. Full cooked breakfast £5 (child’s breakfast free with each paying adult, under 10s free). Optional walk departs car park at 8.30am (c. 1-1.5 hours).

Poems in the Pub: Chetnole Inn, Monday 15 July, 7.30pm. Come and join a friendly group of people meeting to share and discuss poems on the theme of summer. No need to book: just turn up (and bring favourite poems if you’d like to!).

Leigh Food Fair and Vintage/Classic Car and Bike Event: Saturday 20 July, 10am – 4pm, Leigh Village Hall. Taste and buy some of the best food and drink on offer from local producers and see the extensive vintage/classic cars and bikes on show. Adults: £2, children: £1, under 15: free. Around the World: A Cabaret of Songs, Saturday 27 July, 7pm, Leigh Village Hall (DT9 6HL). A conert given by the Somerset Songsters. Admisison by ticket (£10) bookable via 01963 210 632. Drink and light refreshments available. Proceeds to Holnest Church Fund.

Chetnole Flower Show: Saturday 3 August, 2-4.30pm, Chetnole Village Hall. Flower/produce show, live music, teas, stalls, entertainments etc. £1 entry – children free. Proceeds to charity.

St Peter's Church, Chetnole:  Sunday 4 August, 11.00am, Village Service.  David Hayes will tell us about Friends of Yeatman.  One of the charities we are supporting.

Saturday 29 June, 2 – 5pm: Church Tower Tea Party at St Andrew’s, Yetminster. Come and climb the tower, see the falconry display and enjoy the bouncy castle. Teas will be available. Free admission but donations to the restoration fund welcome.

Saturday 29 June, 7pm, Bishops Caundle church. Last Night of the Proms concert, given by the Royal Marines Association. Tickets £10 from Bishops Caundle shop. Refreshments on the green.

Sunday 30 June, 3 – 5 pm: Parachuting teddy bears in Chetnole churchyard. Bring a teddy and a homemade parachute and see how slowly your bear can glide to the ground from the top of the church tower. £1 per jump. Prize for slowest descent. Cream teas available. Excellent fun for young and old.

Sunday 23 June, Chetnole Sports Ground from 12pm: charity cricket match between the Wriggle Valley CC and a team of ex servicemen, in aid of a charity supporting young Afghans through education and sport.

Saturday 8 June, 1-4pm: Glanvilles Wootton Village Fete, Church Farm, DT9 5QE. Flower festival, cookery competition in the church, fun dog show, meet the alpacas, BBQ, Pimm’s tent, games for all, a ceilidh band and many stalls. More information from glanvilleswootton.org/fete.
